We’ve been using this template for more than 10 years. Over the years we’ve tweaked it but in our experience, simple works best (and if it ain’t broke…). It’s easy to use (just an .xls file) and allows you to plan out your posts ahead of time (if you aren’t doing this, then you should be!). You can also make a copy of our GDocs file here, if that’s more your thing.

If you want to plan out all actions required for a campaign or just your general to dos then this is a great template to use. We use this when we kick off with a new client but also when planning out a launch, campaign etc. It’s a very basic way to plan out what needs to be done, when and by who. Oh jeez you say, more planning! Well, the Content Planner is much more top line. We find it’s useful to start with this is we have lots of content that we need to get out, say over a campaign period.
